The WWTP in Navia (Asturias) is already in the testing phase
• It will serve 13,500 inhabitants
Sacyr Sadyt has completed the construction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Navia - Coaña (Asturias) which is already in the testing phase after an investment of 8.1 million euros. This facility is the cornerstone of the sanitation and purification system of the Navia estuary, which will foreseeably come into operation next October.
The facility will serve 13,500 inhabitants, allowing up to 3,400 m3 of wastewater per day to be treated.
Sacyr Sadyt, in association with Nemesio Bedia Construcciones, has carried out this project that includes one line of pretreatment and four lines of treatment: storms (physicochemical), biological, tertiary (filtration and disinfection with ultraviolet rays) and sludge.
The main features of the plant include: the biological treatment system with four SBR reactors (Sequential Biological Reactor) in which the organic matter is degraded and the sludge is decanted without using secondary decanters that would need a greater surface area; and an advanced deodorization system.
Furthermore, Navia’s WWTP will allow the reuse of treated water through tertiary treatment for its use in auxiliary services, without the need to use drinking water in the process.
Sacyr in Asturias
Sacyr Sadyt has also built the WWTP in Llanes, with the capacity to treat the effluent of a population equivalent to 34,000 inhabitants. Sacyr also keeps a notable presence in the region through its subsidiary Sacyr Water, which manages the supply system of the central area of Asturias, consisting of the Drinking Water Treatment Plants (DWTP) of Rioseco and Ablaneda, which serve 350,000 people and Asturias’ major industries in the downtown area. It also manages the treatment systems of the production center of Peña Santa Food Corporation (Capsa Foods) in Siero and the WWTP of the municipalities of Ribadesella, Vegadeo, San Tirso de Abres, Oscos, Grandas de Salime, Degaña and Ibias, among others.
