Sacyr lays the foundation stone of the Villarrica Hospital in Chile
The hospital facility built by Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructures will serve 100,000 inhabitants from the municipalities that are part of the Lacustre Node of the province of Cautín, in southern Chile.
Sacyr has begun the construction of the new Villarrica Hospital in the Chilean region of Araucanía. The 21,000 m2 hospital will accommodate 115 beds, an Intermediate Treatments Unit, an Emergency Department, 6 treatment rooms, 3 labor rooms, 12 dialysis units and a Polyclinic which will provide general medical services as well as various specialist services, among other.
"This work is very significant for Sacyr”, explains Máximo Bardet, the Project Manager. "We will once again show our company’s leadership and experience in the construction of hospitals and complex works," he adds.
On the other hand, the General Manager of Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructures, Juan Antonio Marín, adds that “it is a great challenge and a source of pride for Sacyr to participate in a project like this, since it has been much longed by the entire community".
"This is our fourth hospital in Chile, along with Antofagasta, Alto Hospicio and Quillota-Petorca, and we are committed to give the best of our human and professional team to face this great responsibility we share with the inhabitants of Villarrica," adds the General Manager.
Commencement of the works
The official commencement of the works took place on October 18, with the presence of the Undersecretary of Public Works, Lucas Palacios, together with the mayor of the Region of Araucanía, Luis Mayol, and the mayor of Villarrica, Pablo Astete. The event also had the participation of senators, government representatives, regional authorities and residents of the sector.
Accompanying them, the ceremony was also attended by the General Manager of Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructures, Juan Antonio Marín, the Building Manager of Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructures, Ignacio Elias, and the Project Manager of the Villarrica Hospital, Máximo Bardet.
After the speeches from the authorities, the ceremony of laying the foundation stone was held, marked by the signature of a scroll which was placed in the land where the earthwork to build the hospital is being carried out.
