Sacyr is awarded infrastructure projects for 1,661 million euros (+116%) during the first half of 2019

The construction backlog of Sacyr's infrastructure subsidiary closed the year at 6,700 million euros, 14% up compared to the previous year.

Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructures has been awarded construction contracts in the first half of 2019 totaling 1,661 million euros, 116% more than in the same period of 2018 in which contracts were awarded for 769 million euros.

Among the new projects, 1,009 million euros correspond to works in Latin America, 482 million euros to Europe (of which 238 million euros correspond to Spain), 102 million to the United States and the rest to projects awarded for the Middle East.

Thanks to these new awards, the construction backlog of Sacyr's infrastructure subsidiary closed June at 6,699.5 million euros, 14% up compared to June 2018. By geographical areas, the works backlog is distributed as follows: Spain (12.6%), rest of Europe (33.2%), Latin America (43%), Middle East and Africa (5.6%) and the United States (5.6%).

New projects

Among the European projects in which Sacyr participates and which have been awarded in the first half of the year, the following stand out: a section of the South International Corridor railway (Portugal) for 130.5 million; the tramway in Edinburgh (United Kingdom) for 119.5 million euros. Among the contracts awarded in Spain: the building that will connect the terminals of the Tenerife South Airport for 44 million euros and residential building projects for over 98 million euros.

In America, it is worth noting the construction contracts of a section of the IH 35 in Texas (United States) for 102.4 million euros, the renovation of the Chacalluta airport (Chile) for 61.3 million euros and the renovation and rehabilitation of the Ancash highway in Peru for 33 million, among other works. In addition, Sacyr has been awarded major works in Qatar amounting to 114 million euros.
