Sacyr Industrial has been assigned the contract by the multinational company Mainstream for the design, supply and construction of the entire BoP (Balance of Plant) for the Alena and Tchamma wind farm projects located in the Chilean regions of Biobío and Antofagasta.
Tchamma will have 35 wind turbines and a power capacity of 157 megawatts (MW), while Alena will have 18 wind turbines and 84 MW.
Alena and Tchamma form part of the first batch of investments that Mainstream has made in relation to its PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements) to generate renewable energy starting in 2021.
Infrastructure of the wind farms
Sacyr Industrial will construct the foundation and support infrastructures of the wind farms, as well as the power evacuation lines. It will design and carry out the electrical and civil works necessary for the installation of the wind turbines, the medium-voltage grid, the booster substation and the high-voltage evacuation line, together with the construction of road structures, of the foundations for the wind turbines and the improvement of access routes to the wind farms.
With this contract, Sacyr Industrial consolidates its activity in Chile and enters the Chilean market for electricity generation through renewable energies. In this way, it contributes to the country’s objective of increasing its green power generation capacity and of advancing toward decarbonization.
