The Sacyr Foundation partners with non-governmental organisations in Latin America to address COVID-19 needs

The Foundation conducts initiatives in Colombia, Peru, Mexico, and Chile to address food emergencies and strengthen the education system

The Sacyr Foundation has established collaboration agreements with various NGOs to address the urgent need for basic essentials triggered by COVID-19 in Latin America.

The collaboration initially extends to four countries—Colombia, Peru, Mexico and Chile—where Sacyr operates and already collaborates with several non-governmental organisations.

According to Manuel Manrique, chairman of the Sacyr Foundation, cooperation in development is one of the main goals of the Sacyr Foundation. “This goal is even more important in the current health crisis. Through the different initiatives we have underway, we aim to provide a quality of life to people in vulnerable situations,” the chairman said.

In Colombia, the Sacyr Foundation works with Ayuda en Acción in El Salado (Department of Bolívar) to support the basic education system. Under this initiative, Sacyr volunteers have helped restore a school, and 63 tablets, featuring educational programmes, have been delivered to El Salado students.

In Peru, the Sacyr Foundation—again in collaboration with Ayuda en Acción—has signed a donation agreement to deliver 900 food kits to underprivileged families in the regions of Piura, Huancavelica, and Cusco. The nearly 5,000 beneficiaries reside in the catchment area of the roadway maintenance projects.

In Mexico, the Sacyr Foundation has donated food and personal hygiene kits through Ayuda en Acción to the Singuilucan community in the state of Hidalgo. This action aims to promote good health and hygiene habits to fight the spread of COVID-19. In total, more than 850 people from the communities of La Gloria (El Susto), La Lagunita, Las Palomas, Matías Rodríguez, Aguayutla, Tecoaco, and Jalapilla have benefitted.

In Chile, the Sacyr Foundation joins Aldeas Infantiles in the Escuela en tu aldea (School in your village) programme to provide educational support to children and adolescents, ensuring their successful reintegration into primary and secondary school once the health crisis is over.
