Rumichaca Pasto

Vial Unión del Sur is the company responsible for the P3 project 4G Rumichaca-Pasto, in the department of Nariño, in southern Colombia. This mega road infrastructure offers a modern and effective solution to border mobility between Ecuador and Colombia.

This project, which includes the operation and maintenance of the road corridor, improves the competitiveness of the country as a whole. It also improves the connectivity of the region and promote the economic and social development of communities living in the seven municipalities in this area: El Contadero, Iles, Imués, Tangua, Yacuanquer and Pasto.

A project with demanding technical specifications 

The project involves repairing 15.7 km of road between Rumichaca and the village of San Juan in Ipiales; rebuilding 62.1 km of dual carriageway between the villages of San Juan and Catambuco (25 km of new dual carriageway between San Juan and Pilcuán Viejo); and improving a 5.2 Km  section between Catambuco and Pasto. There will also be 2 pedestrian bridges, 7 vehicular bridges, and 12 turnaround junctions.

This complex and highly significant project will improve travel times and increase road safety and comfort.  

We create local jobs

The execution of the Rumichaca-Pasto project has had a very positive impact on neighboring communities. We have become the largest generator of employment in the department of Nariño, recruiting over 4,200 people, 80% of whom come from the region itself.
