SIS awarded Via del Mare P3 contract in the Veneto region (Italy)

  • SIS, a consortium comprising Fininc and Sacyr, is to build and operate this 19 km road section requiring an estimated €250 million investment
  • The Via del Mare will generate a €1.6 billion backlog over the 32-year concession period.
  • Sacyr wins its fourth P3 project in Italy, a key strategic market for the company.

SIS, a consortium comprising Fininc and Sacyr, has been awarded the P3 contract for Via del Mare project, a new 19-km divided highway section running between Jesolo and Meolo, in northeast Italy.

This contract, awarded by the Veneto Region local government, includes the design, build, finance, operation, and maintenance of the new 18.6-km divided highway section. Of the total project length, 10.4 km correspond to road widening works, and the remaining 8.2 km will be new road construction works.

Connection to the coast

The Via del Mare is a new road connecting the A4 and the resort town of Jesolo. Currently there is no existing road directly connecting the two, which requires a detour across several regional roads and small towns. The project includes five intermediate entrance/exit points in addition to accesses at both ends of the highway.

The Via del Mare estimates €1.6 billion in traffic revenues over a 32-year concession period and an average daily traffic rate of 36.000 vehicles.

Growth in Italy

Italy is a key market for Sacyr, a location where, through SIS, it operates the Pedemontana-Veneta, the A-21 and the A-3 highways, which in total are 470 km.

Sacyr Concesiones is an international benchmark in the P3 development sector, and the third largest developer of transport assets, according to PWF magazine.

The company currently manages a diversified international project portfolio valued at €3.25 billion.
