Joaquina Álvarez is a researcher specializing in plate tectonics and mountain range formation. She has garnered recognition in Spain’s largest public institution dedicated to research, the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), even in a predominantly male sector, and she is an inspiration to hundreds of girls who one day will learn how mountains are formed. 

More accessible training and skill recycling throughout people’s work lives will be determinant in doing so to improve the competitivity of human talent and organizations.
