In this new strategic cycle, we further advance in our company profile that started in 2015, with a focus in P3 infrastructures and sustainability.
P3 projects in which we create added value throughout the assets’ entire lifecycle: from tender bidding, design, financing, to construction, operation and maintenance, along with two strong construction and services business divisions that contribute to this strategy.
Sacyr promotes long-term value creation for our employees, society and all our stakeholders, contributing to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in every project.

This strategic approach is reflected in the continuous growth of our backlog, that in 2021 saw an € 11 billion increase with relevant project awards, such as 5 new P3 projects, the first infrastructure projects in Canada, and other significant municipal service contracts in Madrid and Barcelona.
These successes came with other financial goals that we have also achieved in the past year: the group’s EBITDA increased by 28% to € 923 million and the profitability rate (EBITDA margin) increases to 19.7% (+24%).
2021-2025 Sacyr Sustainable Action Plan
Our firm commitment to sustainability is manifest in all the fields of our 2021-2025 Sacyr Sustainable Action Plan:
• Planet Ambition: We increased our investment in environmental protection by 46% in 2021 and we received the Supplier Engagement Leader 2021 recognition from Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for measuring and reducing risks in our supply chain.
• Team Ambition: we are a diverse and inclusive team, and we have received the Family-responsible Certificate in Spain and Colombia.
• Positive Impact Ambition: Our managing of sustainable projects is also reflected in innovative financial instruments aligned with sustainable goals like the two green financing and two social bonds operations that we closed in the past months.
• Ambición at the Highest Level: The prestigious rating Sustainalytics ranks us as the leaders in the infrastructure sector in Spain and the sixth internationally. We are also among the top 10 companies regarding sustainability, according to S&P.
