Sacyr, recognized for its good prevention practices in La Palma

The Emergency actions project for the volcano of La Palma (Canary Islands) was a finalist in the 10th Edition of the Asepeyo Awards for the best prevention practices.

These awards recognize partner companies that stand out for their results in terms of occupational risk prevention.

According to Asepeyo, the work of Sacyr merits this distinction for "the development of preventive actions that allowed to continue with the entrusted works and jump start cleaning, maintenance and repairs in the areas affected by the Cumbre Vieja volcano amid the adverse situation caused by the eruption."

In addition, Asepeyo also highlights "the great danger present in the work area, the planning of the works in the different pits, according to the risk analysis, were fundamental to be able to develop them in optimal safety and health conditions for workers, always coordinated with the authorities".

Sacyr led the Bajamar Tajuya joint venture that carried out the emergency rehabilitation of the La Palma LP-2 highway, the main communication route of the south of the Island of La Palma, between pks 10.7 and 44.3, after the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island in September 2021.

At an event held today in La Palma, Borja Perdomo Hernández, first vice president of the Infrastructure, Innovation, New Technologies and Spatial Planning Area of the Cabildo de La Palma, gave this recognition to Carlos Martínez Almeida, delegate for the Canary Islands of Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructures, and Francisco Martínez Mondéjar, from the Prevention team of the Southern area of Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructures.
