Starlink: Elon Musk’s satellites at our Chile and USA projects

There are some areas in the planet without Internet access due to lack of infrastructure, such as optical fiber installations, WiFi network, 5G, etc. When planning any project, Sacyr opts for using new technologies based on satellite information to cover those needs.

This type of connection is used to access Sacyr applications, upload photos, project plans, e-mails, etc.

The technology our group is using is the Starlink satellite network. In 2019, Elon Musk launched the first Starlink satellites as a new project of his company, SpaceX.

Starlink satellites bring connectivity to areas of the planet where optical fiber and antennas do not. This solution, paired with a Starlink user kit installed in the location to provide connectivity can provide faster Internet speed.

Sacyr uses this technology in the USA, to bring connectivity to multiple Sacyr projects, located in huge terrain extensions with little population, where it otherwise would be very expensive to bring internet connection.

Buin Paine Hospital.

More specifically, this technology is used at the US59 Diboll (Angelina County) and IH35E Hillsboro (Dallas) projects.

It’s also been applied at Copa Colina by Sacyr Water, and at Ckani and Caman by Sacyr Industrial, as well as at Buin Paine Hospital by Sacyr Concesiones, and it will shortly be implemented at the Puerto Viejo Copiapó project.
