Sacyr Engineering and Infrastrucutres and Cavosa, in a joint venture with Mariezcurren are developing the Elorrio-Elorrio high-speed rail section.
This section includes 2.8 km of rail in an international standard gauge (14 meters) double track section. The section will be a mixed traffic rail system: 220 km/h for Passenger trains and 90 km/h for freight.
The Elorrio section, an ADIF contract, is part of the construction project of the railway platform for the HSR line connecting Vitoria-Bilbao and San Sebastián.
The project includes the construction of four viaducts: Zabaleta Norte (288 meters), Zabaleta Sur (220 meters), Zumelegui (481 meters) and Goikoa (179 meters).
We have just completed laying the board in the latter. We have also excavated a 279-meter tunnel in Zumelegui. 205 m of the tunnel were excavated by the Austrian method and another 74 m used the false tunnel method.
The budget for this project is €66 million and the works are planned for completion in the last quarter of 2024.
Upcoming milestones
The next milestones planned are the completion of the cruce del tablero de Zabaleta Sur bajo el viaducto de Zabaleta-Larrazábal ejecutado por el tramo adyacente in May. The board of the Zumelegui viaduct, the most important of this section will be completed in the summer.
